Notes and playing on the piano give birth to new worlds in a vortex of paper scraps as a companion piece to this beautiful rendition by renowned pianist Shani Diluka. A fever dream of Moondog’s New York, the same that inspired Charlie Parker, of which the original track was a celebration. While not a narrative piece per se, the video is structured as a brief exploration of the patterns of inspiration in music and what can be channeled through playing. Glimpses of Moondog’s life and history, through the hands of the pianist, out in the world, and then back to the musician again.
