About this video
This animated short is an effort in translating my aesthetic research as a collage artist into motion, to tell a story about being overwhelmed by the current state of things and being chased by it. As a music video, it is meant to flow with the track and the narratives it suggests, of which everything from concept and design to direction, animation and editing has been done by myself. It's a labor of love for music, dada and surrealist cinema, while keeping in mind the wide angles and dark tones of noir alongside the eerie blacks and whites - and texture - of german expressionist cinema. The music is the experimental yet catchy blend of jazz from Italian producer Manuel Volpe, along with a dozen renowned musicians each of whom I really cared to place in the narrative, as a mystical and ominous presence. Design and collaging in Photoshop. Animation and compositing in After Effects.
